SHOWING OUR SUPPORT FOR ISRAEL
We are all concerned about Israel's welfare during the current drastic emergency situation. Naturally, we are looking for ways for our community members to have an immediate human-scale impact in the various efforts underway to support Israel. We have heard that calls and messages to people you know in Israel, along with letter writing to youth and soldiers, are greatly appreciated. If you are able, financial support is also very much needed right now. In addition to the Associated's Emergency Fund for Israel, which is responding to needs across Israel, we also urge you to donate directly and generously to organizations that are providing "on the ground" support. Our Israel Action Committee has researched organizations working in the following areas:
Rebuilding Communities & Helping Displaced People: Various organizations, such as an Israel Gives "Fund me" effort for Kfar Azza, are preparing to assist in rebuilding communities in the Gaza vicinity. In the meantime they are helping the displaced residents in regions like the Arava, where they are being temporarily sheltered and fed. They have even created special programs and activities for the children. See more information about one such endeavor.
Life Saving Supplies for Soldiers: Due to the unprecedented numbers of reservists being called up, there are several grass-roots organizations that are purchasing needed items such as first-aid kits, tourniquets, rehydration packets and bullet-proof vests, that have been requested by soldiers on the front lines. The delivery of these supplies is assured by volunteers. For more information and to donate, please visit Soldiers Save Lives.
Directly Care for Victims: Please support various well-known medical aid and humanitarian assistance organizations that have a history of serious and dedicated "on the ground" support of Israel's needs. These include traditional Israel support organizations that provide help in categories such as:
- Psychologists providing grief counseling and therapy to trauma victims and resiliency support in disaster recovery situations (JNF Resilience Campaign)
- Helping to recover the deceased victims of the attacks for burial (ZAKA)
