A fundraiser with something useful in it for everyone!
To facilitate a safe and inclusive community experience during the High Holidays, one of the steps Chevrei Tzedek has taken is to limit available High Holiday seating, to allow for distanced family/cohort pods.
Fewer seats poses a logistical challenge: Where are we supposed to put our stuff?!
In non-pandemic times, families would annex a seat or two next to them for books, talitot and whatnot. (C'mon, you know you've done it.)
But with the number of seats and pods limited to the number of high holiday tickets ordered, there won't be any extra seats!
What to do? What to do?

Chevrei Tzedek will front the cost of purchasing a Sanctuary Storage Box (prototype pictured) for roughly every other seat in the sanctuary.
These boxes fit easily under your chair, and have ample room for your tallit bag, books, and more!
They can be used during the services for Rosh HaShanah, and YES left at your pod with your stuff nestled cozily inside between the first and second day of services (the building will be locked). Then you can use the boxes again on Yom Kippur. (Due to space limitations, you will need to take your stuff home between Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur. But the boxes will be set out again for Kol-Nidre through the end of Yom Kippur.)

Here's where you come in:
You have the opportunity to dedicate a box with any dedication you like (up to 90 characters including spaces) and you will be able to place a custom insert into the box (as shown) with your dedication to use throughout High Holidays. We will give you your dedication plate when you check into services, collect your plate between YomTovs, and return the plate to you for the start of the next YomTov.
There are three dedication plate options:
For $180 you can have your dedication engraved onto an elegant metal plate in your choice of 4 color options (see shopping page). After the holidays, the plate can stay with its dedicated box in perpetuity. This plate will last as long as you will.
For $120 you can have your dedication engraved onto a long-lasting plastic plate with a metallic-looking finish. Also in your choice of 4 color options (different from the metal plates, see shopping page). As with the metal plate above, this plate can stay with its dedicated box in perpetuity. This plate will probably last as long as you will, but maybe not.
For only $18, you can have your dedication printed on white cardstock on a color printer. This dedication "plate" is only good for this year. While it will be left in place after the High Holidays, it's not guaranteed to last (it's paper, after all). Before the High Holidays next year, we will pull these cards out and run this fundraiser again.
All dedication plates will include the Chevrei logo (monochrome) and congregation name as seen in the sample cardstock dedication plate.
Even though the boxes will be available to everyone, please consider buying a storage box dedication plate (or two!) at any of the price points that suit your family's needs and sense of style.
This is a creative and totally useful way to sustain Chevrei Tzedek in our spiritual home and our bank account while also improving the in-shul experience for the perpetual conundrum: what do we do with our stuff?! Order a dedication plate here. Order by Friday, August 27 so your dedication plate will be ready for the high holidays.

Sanctuary Storage Boxes: FAQ
Q: Can we leave our box full of stuff between Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur?
A: Unfortunately not. We have nowhere to store the fully assembled boxes. We must break-down the boxes to their flat shipping format so that we can store them between services.
Q: Can we take our box home between services?
A: We would prefer that you didn’t. What will we do if you forget to bring it back?
We don’t have an unlimited supply of boxes. :-)
Q: Can we leave our box full of stuff between the services of the same holiday?
E.g., from day 1 of Rosh HaShanah to day 2, or from Kol Nidre through Nelia?
A: Yes! Between contiguous services of the same yomtov, you can leave your stuff and your box at the seats you are assigned. The building will be locked so all your things will be where you left them when you return.
Q: Can we leave our box full of stuff all year around?
A: Unfortunately not. We have nowhere to store the fully assembled boxes. We must break-down the boxes to their flat shipping format so that we can store them. However, we will be looking into ways to keep the boxes nearby so that people can use them throughout the year.
Q How do we get to use “our” box again?
A: You’re probably not going to get the exact same box back between services, but your dedication plate will be taken out and put back into a place where you can pick them up again and re-insert them into a box that will look just like the one you used the last time.
Q: What happens to the boxes after the High Holidays?
A: We will keep the boxes and dedication plates safe. The boxes will be deconstructed and flattened for storage. G-d willing, we will use them all again at the next High Holidays, if not sooner.
Q: What happens to our dedication plate?
A: If you purchased one of the “perpetual” dedication plates (plastic or metal) we will store them together with the boxes for future use. If you purchased the paper dedication cards, they will (eventually) be removed. Not sooner than the preparation time for the next High Holidays.
Q: Will we be able to use our dedication plate in the future?
A: If you purchased one of the “perpetual” dedication plates (plastic or metal) we will store them with the boxes for you for future use. If you purchased the paper dedication cards, they will (eventually) be removed. Not sooner than the preparation time for the next High Holidays. If you take your dedication plate home, that’s on you.
Q: Will we be able to use our dedication plate for the next High Holidays?
A: YES! IF you purchased one of the “perpetual” dedication plates (plastic or metal).
Q: Where do we keep the box when we’re not at services?
A: YOU don’t keep the boxes. We do. Isn’t that easy? Aren’t we so good to you?
Q: Why can’t we use the paper dedication card for the next High Holidays?
A: Because you didn’t donate for that option. That’s kinda why we have the option for perpetual plastic or metal dedication plates. Buy once, use in perpetuity.
Q: The cardstock paper dedication plate looks so nice! Will the metal or plastic perpetual dedication plates look like that?
A: Yes and no. The metal or plastic perpetual dedication plates will have the congregation's name and logo as they appear on the paper version, as well as your custom dedication. However, the imprint will be one color. It'll look gorgeous, darling!
Q: Can we decide after seeing the boxes during Rosh Hashanah to donate a dedication plate?
A: We're always happy to take donations. But if you want a dedication plate for this year's High Holidays, you'll have to take a leap of faith and put in your request by the August 27th deadline.
Q: Can we dedicate more than one plate for more than one box?
A: Absolutely! Dedicate them all if you like! (We'll work out a special deal for you, AND take the heat from everyone who didn't have your tremendous foresight.)
