Accessing and Scheduling Events at the Myerberg
Myerberg Center and Lease News – Access to the Building – as of February 11, 2021
The Myerberg has made several upgrades to the building, including the installation of security cameras to monitor the building’s entrances, emergency lockdown switches and doors, an alarm system, and a key fob access system.
As of now, we can only gain access to the building through what we call the “Shabbat door” via use of a key fob. Currently, the glass front doors are always locked even when Myerberg staff are working in the building. Cheveri Tzedek will be given three key fobs, but to date only Mike Field actually has one.
The alarm system is now activated 11 pm – 6 am daily. That means if you find yourself in the building after 10 pm, you have a one-hour grace period to exit the building. Failure to exit in time will trigger an alarm and possibly result in the City imposing false alarm fees.
If you have keys to the Myerberg: DO NOT THROW THEM AWAY. Our closet keys remain 100% functional and necessary. The status of other keys is unclear -- but keep them until & unless otherwise directed.
Under our revised lease (in effect through July 31, 2021), we may only use the building and parking lots for events scheduled with Myerberg staff in advance. Except for certain dates already requested around holidays in the spring and summer, we must provide at least ten (10) days’ notice to the Myerberg about any event. There is no guarantee that it will be available for any given date, so the earlier we can give a date, the better. There are also provisions for cancellation fees.
We retained the favorable terms of our lease agreement to pay only a storage fee plus hourly usage fees through July 31, 2021.
If you plan to schedule an event at the Myerberg, please contact Liz Simon-Higgs.
If you need to get into the Myerberg for any Chevrei Tzedek-related business, please contact Mike Field.
If you have both needs, or are unsure whom to contact, contact both Liz and Mike.
