Brown's Memorial Shelter (1/6/07)
-
Volunteers needed to cook dinner for the
Brown's Memorial Shelter.
You don't even have to cook to fulfill this
mitzvah--you can also simply deliver food that will
become a dinner. Although the dinners are served by
the shelter staff on Mondays, they can be brought to
the shelter on Sundays. (For more information, see
http://www.chevreitzedek.org/misc-Brown_cook.html )
Please contact Becky Pearlman, Social Action Committee
Chair, with questions or to volunteer

Mitzvah Committee (7/9/06)
-
We are currently in need of volunteers to chair and be members of the mitzvah committee. According to the by-laws the mitzvah committee performs the following task(s):
SECTION 16. Mitzvah Committee. The Mitzvah Committee shall develop policies and coordinate mitzvah activities.
Specifically, the members of the mitzvah committee are called upon to assist families who are dealing with events such as a birth or death. These activities include arranging for shiva trays, dinners, sending flowers, offers of help, etc...
It will be a mitzvah to become a member of the mitzvah committee.
Anyone who is interested should contact Robert Kleinman.

Looking for Learners (1/1/03)
-
The Ritual and Adult Education Committees are offering tutorial
or small group sessions to help people with any of the following:
Davening any of the morning services
Leading the Davening of any of the morning services
Torah Reading
Haftorah Reading
In addition, we have people available for 1-1 to help people learn
written Hebrew in the Babylonian script (font?) in common use today.
Learning how to READ the words without comprehension requires
approximately 2 hours, either in 1 or 2 sessions.
Furthermore, we have a tutoring corps whose primary focus is helping
members of the B'nei Mitzvah Chug, but may also be available for those
who want to learn basic skills at a modest $ rate.
Intrigued? Curious? Motivated to learn? Contact Steve Glushakow-Smith.
See the listserv email or your member directory for contact information.

Phone Number for Updated Congregational Information (10/11/01)
-
If you are wondering whether on a particular Saturday there will be a
traditional service (with or without a bar/bat mitzvah or other special
event), a Shabbat limud, or a family service, or if you need to know the time
of an upcoming holiday service, try calling our synagogue at 410-542-9110.
We try to put a new message on the voice mail each week advising of the
schedule of services for the coming week. Also, in case of inclement weather
this winter, we will leave a voice mail message by 8 a.m. on the morning of
services advising whether services will be held.
