Frequently Asked Questions last updated August 31, 2021.
Q: Where will services be held?
A: Our High Holy Day services will be in person, at the Myerberg Center, with up to 150 people allowed. We will also livestream our indoor Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services.
Q: What is the schedule?
A: Please see the full schedule HERE!
Q: Will Chevrei Tzedek offer a livestreaming or Zoom option?
A: Yes, we will livestream our indoor services.
Q: Is Chevrei Tzedek hosting a communal Breakfast this year?
A: No.
Q: Do I have to wear a mask?
A: Yes. Everyone over the age of 2 must wear a mask while in the building. The sole exception is that our fully vaccinated service leaders have the option to lead their portion(s) of the service unmasked. Please see details here.
Q: Are non-members allowed?
A: Yes, with limitations. We welcome EVERYONE to our outdoor events including the Shofar & Song sessions following indoor services on both days of Rosh Hashanah (11:45 AM); at our Tailgate & Tashlich on Rosh Hashanah Day 1 (starting around 12:15 PM); and at our Rosh Hashanah Day 2 indoor, in-person morning service (followed by outdoor shofar & song service), which is $54. Please buy your Rosh Hashanah Day 2 ticket here. You may call us at 443-992-7485 OR email liz@chevrei.org if you have questions. We also welcome you to watch our livestream! Sign up here to receive a link. Unfortunately, due to COVID, we are limiting our in-person attendance at each indoor service to approximately 150 people. Although it is painful to say, no walk-ins will be permitted at our indoor services. All members, guests of members, and Rosh Hashanah Day 2 guests must be registered to attend in-person services.
Q: I am a member; where do I buy tickets for my guest(s)?
A: Click HERE.
Q: How long are services?
A: Each indoor service will be limited to roughly 90 minutes. In order to be together in person, we are reducing health risks through: mandatory mask-wearing, sitting in pods (see below), limiting capacity, eliminating communal Break Fast, and reducing our continuous time inside. On Rosh Hashanah, we will have our shofar service, favorite communal tunes, and concluding prayers together OUTSIDE, beginning 15 minutes after the conclusion of indoor services. On Yom Kippur, in order to have a full morning service, we are moving Yizkor to the afternoon service, just before Neilah.
Q: How will seating work?
A: Chairs will be placed in clusters so that people can sit in ‘pods.’ There will be roughly three (3) feet of spacing between clusters. If you need more (or fewer) chairs for your pod, please move the chairs and/or ask for help from ushers. We have several ushers that will assist with seating.
Q: Do we volunteer this year?
A: YES! Especially this year, our High Holy Days require full congregational support. Here is our High Holy Days SignupGenius! Please be as generous and flexible as possible with your time and contribution.
Q: Are you checking people’s vaccination status?
A: No, we do not plan to check service attendees’ vaccination status.
Q: Are children allowed at services?
A: Yes, children of all ages are allowed. Families with children under 12 years of age will be seated in the sanctuary on the side near the patio, where most children's programming will take place. All children over 2 years of age must be masked.
Q: Will there be children’s programming?
A: Yes! Please see our schedule HERE. We plan for much of our children's programming to take place outside.
Q: What is the schedule for Sukkot and Simchat Torah?
A: Please see our Calendar page for details.
Q: What if I have other questions?
